National Gay and Lesbian Athletics Conference

CLAGS has joined the Gay & Lesbian Athletics
Foundation to host the first national conference on
LGTBQ Athletes, March 28-30 in Cambridge/Boston, MA.
As a “content sponsor,” CLAGS is organizing a panel on
Current Research Trends in LGTBQ Studies and Sport.
Other panels, sponsored by such organizations as the
National Center for Lesbian Rights, GLAAD, and the Gay,
Lesbian & Straight Education Network, will take up such
issues as Title IX, media representation of L/G athletes,
and homophobia in high school sports. Organizers
promise that the conference “will change the way the
world of mainstream sports views LGTB athletes” and that
the weekend will provide opportunities “to meet wellknown
athletes and other sports enthusiasts, to engage in
discussion and debate, and enjoy some great food and
entertainment.” Further information and registration
forms can be found at: www.gayconference.org.
