Staff Changes

CLAGS extends warmest welcome to our two new staff members.
Shawnta Smith joined CLAGS as our new Fellowship and Membership Coordinator. Shawnta, a librarian
and archivist, received both her Masters in Library Science, and her Bachelors of Science in Queer Women’s Studies
from the City University of New York. Shawnta is an Archivette with the Lesbian Herstory Archives and young
adult Librarian at the Brooklyn Public Library. She is the recipient of awards and fellowships from the Union Square
Awards, the Urban Libraries Council, the NY Black Librarian’s Caucus, and the City of New York.
Deesha Narichania replaced Nomvuyo Nolutshungu as the new coordinator of International Resource Network
(IRN). Deesha received her Masters in Social Work (MSW) degree from New York University and recently spent a
year in India studying classical Indian dance.
A fond farewell to Nomvuyo. We are very grateful for all her work for the IRN including the launching of the long
in the making IRN interactive Website. Since she will be working for the Ralph Bunche Institute upstairs we hope
she’ll be a frequent visitor to our office as well as a regular attendee at our events.
