On December 14, 1994, Dr. Barbara Starrett hosted a cocktail party in her home to introduce CLAGS to a group of physicians, financiers, and people in the entertainment business. Barbara Starrett has a long his tory of politica I activity dating back to the Gay Academic Union in the early 1970s and has done pioneer work in the treatment of AIDS. Martin Doberman described the mission and activities of CLAGS to the gathering, and the guests responded with enthusiasm. The party – thanks to Barbara Starrett – helped CLAGS reach a group of professionals not always available to an academic organization. Another CLAGS house party is planned for February 15, 1995 at the home of James Woods, Assistant Professor of Communications at Staten Island Community College and author of The Corporate Closet. Anyone interested in gathering a group of friends and colleagues to hear about our work should call the Cl.AGS office at 212.642.2924. We would be most appreciative and will do all the leg work (invitations, etc.) for you.
